The Turn-O-Graph represents a vital part of Rolex history. Introduced in the early 1950s before models such as the Submariner and GMT Master, it featured a game-changing innovation: the rotating bezel. This functionality made it one of the first ‘tool’ watches, used for serious professional applications—indeed, it also became Rolex’s first official military watch when it was adopted by the US Air Force’s elite aerobatic squadron, the Thunderbirds. The Turn-O-Graph is still sometimes known as the Thunderbird after the special issue pieces Rolex released in the team’s honour. This glorious modern re-edition was popular with collectors thanks to its faithfulness to the originals.
